The picturesque town of Gruyères is located at the foot of the Prealps in the canton of Fribourg. The pedestrianized city, its cobblestones and its fountain invite to a gentle stroll. The medieval city gave its name to the region of La Gruyère and its tasty cheese, Gruyère AOP.
Gruyères sacré "Best Tourism Villages" par l’Organisation Mondiale du Tourisme (OMT)
Gruyères, nominé et primé dans le concours « Best Tourism Villages » de l’Organisation mondiale du tourisme. A l’occasion de l’assemblée générale de l’OMT du 2 décembre 2021, Gruyères fait partie des 44 villages primés parmi plus de 174 dossiers déposés issus de 75 pays.
C’est une reconnaissance pour Gruyères, site touristique d’importance nationale mais conscient de son fort ancrage local, de l’importance de son terroir et de son héritage historique.
L'initiative « Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO » a été lancée pour promouvoir le rôle du tourisme dans la sauvegarde des villages ruraux ainsi que de leurs paysages. De plus, la diversité naturelle et culturelle, les valeurs, les activités locales, y compris la gastronomie sont également des éléments clés de ce développement touristique.
